I came home from project, completely out of sorts. I honestly sat around and watched the Olympics and other random TV shows for a solid two weeks. I didn't know what to do with myself after having this incredible summer experience and coming back into reality. My mom can attest to the fact that I was not myself for a good bit. I didn't even prepare to go back up to school until the day before... talk about an odd move from a usually very planned and prepared person! Regardless, I sucked it up and moved up to school August 16th. Junior year... And boy has it proved to be quite the Junior year.
Here's just a few of the highlights/challenges/wonderful things that has comprised the first 2 1/2 ish months of school.
- I've been blessed with an incredible group of sophomore girls to lead in a bible study- and they honestly teach me so much more than I could ever hope to teach them. I've gotten the opportunity to meet one on one with two girls and dive into God's word and what he's doing in their lives also which has been such a blessing.
- I've been able to continue with my discipler and stay (semi) involved with my bible study from freshman and sophomore year- unfortunately life's been rather hectic and so I've been absent the past few times... I am excited to go next week though!
- I started working the hospitality team at my church which is something that I've wanted to do for awhile!
- This semester I'm honored to be a student ambassador and lead tours- and despite the fact it's rained 6 of our 8 Friday tour days, it's been SO much fun getting to show off my wonderful campus. I love it here, and I hope others can find the joy at a school (mine, hopefully) that I have! :)
- My friend Lauren is back from studying abroad so being able to have her back into our posse has been fantastic!
- I'm currently taking Research Methods, Media Law, Advertising Principles, Issues in Advertising and Public Relations and Biology. Needless to say, I've never had so many research papers/projects/presentations in my life. Last week I tackled 4 tests, a quiz and two presentations... I'm so glad I made it Fall Break!
- I've also been working on my thesis a lot- sports and advertising is the basis for my thesis so needless to say, it's actually an exciting prospect to me. I'm hopefully going to be applying for a marketing internship next year for the Razorbacks, which is basically what I want to do when I graduate so I am praying hard for the opportunity to do that!
- I had a special guy come visit me a few weeks back- my boyfriend who I met on project and unfortunately lives about 16 hours away in VA, Ben, came to visit me! We had a fun weekend and I get to see him in a few days at our Summer Project Reunion which I'm SO PUMPED about. I can't wait to see Lauren, Jenny, Hollie, Matt and everyone else!! Reunited FINALLY!
- The Vikings have been doing shockingly well- and the Razorbacks have been doing shockingly bad. But after getting over my initial disappointment, I will still proudly say I'm forever a Razorback! WOO PIG!
- I just traveled with my wonderful parents to the lovely city of Houston to go to an appointment at the French Consulate to apply for my student Visa because in only 2 1/2 months I'll be boarding a plane to spend 4 MONTHS in France. Words can't describe the mix of excitement, nerves, and all around terrified state I feel! I'm waiting for a few more scholarships to notify me if I am awarded anything, but regardless, I'm heading overseas and I couldn't be happier!!
Not a completely exhaustive list, but i think that catches you up on all the highs and lows of life! I'm still alive- still loving life and so blessed to be alive and involved at the things I am here at the U of A. I'm hoping to keep this updated on a more regular basis- we'll see what happens!
Till I write again,
Jacks!
