A Radical Year

I just finished reading the book Radical by David Platt, and let me just say, nothing has quite hit me between the eyes as this has so far. I've been convicted to go, spread his word and to recklessly and radically abandon my life to Him and to live my life for a purpose much bigger than my own. I know I say those words, it seems so shallow to say words and not have a plan for action. Thankfully, I do. In the book he challenged us to do a year long "My Radical Experiment" and I filled out the form- I'm committed. This is a going to a be a year of change, and I'm so excited. I thought to make sure people know about it, I'd post the contract here so that people can see it, keep me accountable, and possibly be challenged in their own lives. So here it is! Let the year begin! :)

I agree with the Radical claim that I can find satisfaction and real service to God only in abandonment to Jesus. So I hereby commit to a one-year experiment of radical living according to the gospel...and to making myself open to the permanent changes God wants to perform in my life as a result of this experiment.

Over the next year...
1. I will pray for the entire world. To make this commitment real in my life, I choose here and now specifically to purchase/find an opworld book and be daily burdened for those around the world.

2. I will read through the entire Word. To make this commitment real in my life, I choose here and now specifically to find a bible reading plan that encompasses a whole year.

3. I will sacrifice my money for a specific purpose. To make this commitment real in my life, I choose here and now specifically to forgo buying a car after this summer and use the money I earn from my summer job and RA stipend to invest in a ministry still not chosen.

4. I will spend time in another context. To make this commitment real in my life, I choose here and now specifically to take a missions trip with a group, or my family, and to serve more in my community.

5. I will commit my life to a multiplying community. To make this commitment real in my life, I choose here and now specifically to become part of a church community group and pour into my bible study and future CG.
